U12 Black - Match Report

2nd Home Game Of The Season

(Mike Ransom 30/09/2021)

1    Congleton Town FC U12 Black
5    Grappenhall Rangers

(Match Date: Saturday 25th September 2021)
Congleton Blacks vs Grappenhall Rangers

It was time for our 2nd home game of the season, looking to build on a solid start with 1 win and a draw so far. The game kicked off and it was clear to see early on that it was going to be a tough game against a team playing some expansive football. Grappenhall grabbed the opening goal of the game after a flowing move. Congleton battled on whilst struggling to make inroads to the Grappenhall strong defence. The score was quickly 2-0 after good play down Grappenhall’s righthand side. After this Congleton mounted their first spell of pressure in the Grappenhall half resulting in a number of corners for the home team, Congleton got themselves back into a tough game from one of these as Felix challenged well in the area to grab a lifeline at 2-1 after 20 minutes. Sadly Grappenhall replied almost immediately to lead at half time 3-1.

Half time score: Congleton 1 – Grappenhall 3

The 2nd half saw a vast increase in determination and fight from Congleton, resulting in a much more even encounter with the home side creating the better of the chances. Unfortunately they couldn’t find away back into game but had some close efforts and thwarted by the Grappenhall goalkeeper on a few occasions. Grappenhall grabbed 2 further late goals in a 2nd half that didn’t justify the improvement in Congleton’s 2nd half performance.

Full time score: Congleton 1- Grappenhall 5

I think we paid the price for slow start today and left us too much to do later on, the lads reacted positively after half time which shows their desire and hopefully will helps us in the long run. I along with the other coaches thought 1 player today showed desire and determination from minute 1 till the very end and was a clear winner for man of the match this week and that was Felix, well done!
