U12 Black - Match Report

What A Way To Start The Season!

(Mike Ransom 12/09/2021)

7    Congleton Town FC U12 Black
0    Cuddington Blues

(Match Date: Saturday 11th September 2021)
A new team in a new season and we couldn’t have dreamed it would start so well. We started the new season with just 9 players in the match day squad due to recent injuries and isolations. Myself and Karl asked the boys to go out and dominate the early stages to give us something to hold on to when legs got tired. We couldn’t have gotten more from the boys as the set about imposing themselves on the opposition from minute 1. They got thier reward with the first goal as Freddie’s shot from the edge of the box could only be parried into the back of the net. Freddie doubled the advantage after pouncing on a defensive error to grab his 2nd. We didn’t have to wait long for Freddie’s and Congleton’s 3rd after some great play down the right from Lucas, squaring the ball after a strong battle and run for the hattrick. Cuddington began to get a foothold in the game and had a spell of pressure and possession forging some good chances. Today’s stand in first half keeper Zack pulled off 2 great saves to keep the clean sheet intact and stopped the opposition from growing in confidence. We had our solid defensive duo of Jack and Jacob back together today and they limited any chances to shots from distance and contributed massively to some exciting build up play out of defence. We dominated the middle of the pitch today thanks to some all action play from Jenson in particular, winning countless tackles and providing cover to the defence. This allowed Ol and Felix to be creative and link the play from defence into attack. Whenever we got the ball out to the wide areas we knew Archie C and Lucas would cause endless problems for their defence, this led incredibly to 2 more goals for Freddie before half time with both goals coming from superb wing play on either side and instinctive first time finishes.

Half time score 5-0!

The 2nd half was a closer affair as the boys understandably tired but their enthusiasm and desire didn’t disappear. We kept our shape and battled on, our 2nd half sweeper keeper Ol made an important save at the beginning of the half to halt a swift comeback. Again the boys looked solid and organised in defence to limit the danger. First half keeper Zack replaced Freddie up front and was involved in the 6th goal showing strength and vision to find Archie out on the left who crossed to Lucas to finish in the middle of the box. Not finished there Congleton continued to play some excellent football with defence, midfield and attack trusting their teammates with the ball and believing they would use it correctly which the did constantly throughout the match. Moving Freddie out of attack didn’t stop him today as the ball broke to him in a crowded box to fire home his 6th and Towns 7th!

Final score 7-0!

We had 9 players out there today who all could’ve been voted man of the match and a special mention goes out to Zack and Ol for stepping up and playing in goals for the good of the team today. Man of the match today had to go to the double hattrick hero Freddie!

A big thankyou to our shirt sponsers, The Kitchen and Bedroom Hub and Kingfisher day nursery the boys looked the part today!
