U12s - Match Report

Everything But The Goals

(Rowan Kitton 10/10/2020)

2    Congleton Town FC U12s
4    Hartford

(Match Date: Saturday 10th October 2020)
Congleton travelled to Hartford for an afternoon KO with both sides looking to maintain their 100% start to the season. Within the first couple of minutes Congleton were one down after a communication mix up at the back gifted the Hartford striker who couldn’t believe his luck! Mistakes will always happen at every level of the game but it is how a side responds that is the true sign of a team’s potential. The goal bought out the very best of Congleton’s play and they immediately found their passing boots. If goals were given for style and creativity then the game would have been all over by half-time as Congleton displayed everything you would want from a young group of players. Hartford are a good side and they defended well throughout, they had to! Lyndan Mellor found the equaliser with a low drive and the score line remained unchanged until the break.

Hartford continued to try to play and the game was a good spectacle whichever side you were supporting. Hartford threatened and Congleton entertained….. It was a great matchup.
Hartford went ahead again with two more goals before Bobby Wright scored to rally the team again at 3-2. Congleton continued to create and were playing some excellent football but couldn’t find the goals they were deserving. It was one of those days when nobody could ask for any more and everyone played their hearts out. Hartford won the game with a fourth and will be happy with the result. Congleton may not be happy with the result but should be absolutely delighted with the performance. The future looks bright.
