U15s - Match Report

Tough Game But A Satisfying Outcome

(Matt Winstanley 14/10/2019)

5    Congleton Rovers JFC U15s
2    Ruskin Park Rockets

(Match Date: Sunday 13th October 2019)
This was a tough game, with Ruskin more than playing their part. Rovers started strongly, with the game going to and fro, until Lewis slotted in a cross to break the deadlock. Two minutes after this, Milo cheekily chipped the keeper to make it 2-0. Lewi very nearly made it 3 when he was narrowly judged off-side. However, nothing is ever easy for Rovers, as some slack defending at a corner led to Ruskin getting a handhold into the game.

It was then nip and tuck until a calamity for Ruskin caused an own goal and Rovers had their 2 goal advantage back. Unfortunately, again Rovers let their 2 goal advantage slip as less than a minute later, Ruskin went from the centre circle, straight up the field and scored! The breathless first half was over, with Rovers cursing their luck but confident they could create more mayhem in the Ruskin half.

In the second half, Rovers began to assert their dominance. Despite the wretched weather, Rovers had 3 early chances to score until Noah, with nerves of steel, got back Rovers’ 2 goal shield. An unlucky header from Bobby and 2 great saves from Jack made for a pulsating half-made particularly notable for a dazzling run and shot from George.

Finally, another smart cross from Milo soon resulted in a goal for Jack and some assertive play from Max capped off a satisfying result overall.
